Hopkinsville is a city in and the county seat of Christian County, Kentucky, United States. The population at the 2010 census was 31,577. Hopkinsville is the principal city of the Hopkinsville, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Christian and Todd counties. Hopkinsville was settled in 1796 by Bartholomew and Sally Fugate, and named after the city's founder, General Samuel Hopkins. A Veterans Administration hospital, Regional Medical Center, was established in 1941 to serve the medical needs of the large number of World War II soldiers stationed at then-Fort Campbell. The hospital remains an active medical center for the economy of Western Kentucky.
